Ranting about ranting about ranting (did I miss one?)...

Post by virgil »

My opinion is about behavior, so it doesn't belong in the RPG subforum. I like to think I've been quiet about it up until now.

So, there seems to be a fair amount of whining about a recent member, Angry_Pessimist. Whether I or you think him to be Jerry doesn't matter. What's sticking up my craw is the fact that the last three days it feels like there's more complaining about anti-4E rants (from A_P) or bitching about A_P's complaining.

We went through a similar phase back when Jerry was around, and that was annoying too. A_Cynic ranted at me IRL about it alot too. The fact we're going through the same damn paces is...I don't know the word for it right now.

My real annoyance isn't likely to flare up until next week if this continues, since it's only actually been a couple days (this time).

I agree.

Although I don't know which annoy me more: A_P's rantings about the Den's rantings about 4e, or other peoples' rantings about how A_P and Jerry are the same person.

Bleah.

Both TGD Management and Nifty Management would love to have an ignore feature for our respective boards. Not that it would do me any good personally, as Ramnza and I are obligated to eventually read every post, but it would keep the bitching and flaming attacks to a minimum.

Who needs a board ignore function when one can just use the innate ignore function?

I don't give a crap if Angry Pessimist is the third head of the same monster or merely the third of similar one-headed monsters.

Rants about other users just don't belong on the board.

If you want to argue about something that's not a ruling, it probably goes over here.

I don't even understand how an ignore feature would help this. If B complains about A and A complains about B, you have to ignore both, no matter how much you like either's real posts, to get rid of the spam. And ignoring both just kinda makes the board pointless.

Wow.

So, Frank can threaten to kill someone's family, and Jerry can have long discussions about how Frank is a dick for threatening to kill his family; but I say someone's not worth listening or talking to

in the context of people being annoyed by that someone, and the adding of an ignore function brought up by the Mod

and it's 'personal comment deleted.'

Classy.

Yeah, it's not just a simple ignore-button away. I'm not complaining about specific people, just the general mood it hit.

However, it seems to have died down. As I said, it'd have to take a week of that subject matter dominating the subforum for me to care, because that's actually long enough to matter.

Frank wasn't serious, Jerry was complaining about Frank's style rather than calling him stupid. Your comment was apparently both believable and insulting, a combination the examples you gave didn't manage.
